Grand Hotel Avcılar

The rooms are basic and show signs of age.. there was no TV channel in English.. and the WiFi was intermittent and I could only get it in parts of the room... The location is next to a major road that is busy 24 hours a day. Lots of road noise when windows are open. And there is not much to see/ do around the local area.. it is a good 1 hours drive to the city center.

Very dirty hotel. The floor is covered by dirty spots at the hall near the elevator. The floor is covered by sticky spots in the room. The wallpaper is torn at some places. The refrigerator is not working, very dirty and has a horrible smell. The fan in the bathroom is noizy. The furniture in the bathroom is broken. Bad wifi. We had to check out in 20 minutes after check-in because of this horrible condition of the room in particular and the hotel in general.

Good evening, today I had a little problem with a food delivery here to my room. I went down to the reception and there were 2 gentlemen on the night shift, which I asked for a little help, one of them told me that they were only interested in orders. that they were made inside the hotel what outside the hotel is only of interest to them, which I found to be a very rude and very rude person. They shouldn't end up with a person like this facing the public working like this. Then after a while I was able to get the phone number and I couldn't call with my phone, I went again and the 2 workers started talking to each other and didn't want to help. If you ever think about coming to this hotel, think about it a lot since its night staff are not polite and are not prepared to deal with the public

This place was book with treatment package for us. The place is absolutely disgusting beds are smelly and uncomfortable. You can hear people flushing toilet in the middle of the night there is no sleep here. Shower is unbelievably dirty. While we went out shopping cleaners took our bed sheets and never replaced them. The photos I took will speak for the room carpet. I’m glad I had surgery I didn’t eat breakfast all cups were dirty not many options same breakfast every day tea and juice machine were moldy. The whole experience was disappointed this hotel is -1 star.

I am surprised this hotel has such a high rating. We were robbed here not once but twice! I am an American and I was taking a road trip across Europe into Asia. On our first night there, our SUV, which was parked right in front of the hotel!, had the window broken by thieves (Istanbul has no shortage of thieves and con artists; majority of cab drivers there are con artists who will loot you with special tourist fares and sleight of hand). The car robbery attempt was in full view of hotel staff and was even caught on their camera. Luckily, the car alarm went off and the thieves got in their car and sped away. The happened around 3 in the morning but hotel staff didnt notify us until 6 am. They did very little to accommodate us during this ordeal. One staff member even said this kind of robbery attempt happened once or twice before at their hotel. The manager would not compensate for broken window repairs, even though it happened on their property, but said he would file a claim with his insurance first, which would take a week or longer. Only then he could cover the cost of the repair. We had to leave Istanbul the next day! We were in no place to wait around for their insurance to pay. We left in anger. They refused to pay the 200 Turkish lira. If something this traumatizing happens in US businesses, the business does their best to accommodate the customer. But not at this hotel! Park at your own risk! Even if it’s right outside the entrance door. Do not drive a nice car or leave your luggage in back seat.
